What exactly is a scholarship?

Are there different types of scholarships too?

Scholarships are need based or merit based. They can be offered by schools you are accepted into or there are private scholarships given by companies (I.e.gates millennium ,coca cola etc.) Get. Book from your local library to finds some that are a good match for you.

Oooh okay thank you!

Merit based awards are usually called scholarships. Need based are usually called grants.

Check with your school guidance office to see what local scholarships you may qualify for. My daughter received quite a bit of money through those, and also one offered by my employer at the time she graduated from high school.

Not necessarily, many schools call their need based institutional aid scholarships.

Yes…some schools do call them “institutions aid scholarships”…which is so confusing especially when those schools are ones that do not give merit aid!
