Reduced so quickly to the Ad Hominem attack? Add some facts to support your statement. Add some useful information such as programs requiring lesser maths. Attacking me adds nothing.

you took it the wrong way. i wasn't attacking you.

i was just telling the op something i would have thought you might have said to him.

it's a wierd type of logic i know but yeah... i wasn't attacking you dude.

I take you at your word. I think striving is all good. I think that CS is one discipline that is hard for some kids to get a good understanding about. There is the engineering angle and the software angle. Some people don't fully appreciate what it takes to get there.....to complete the degree. Others have had limited exposure in HS and think they are pretty good but have little idea how competitive CS is at the top levels. Add to this the seeming natural competition btwn Math and CS you set up a dynamic.

Know what you are getting into. Know what your options are.

Hazmat was not telling him he couldn't handle it. I thought he was very helpful in telling him the advanced requirements of the CS degree. The reality is that it's not for everyone and it's nice that he was giving some advice on what it takes to get the degree, he wasn't being unreasonable at all.

computer science is not just about programming
