What exactly is "Public Relations"?

<p>I'm interested in Media and I've seen "PR" on tv and the idea I've gotten of it is that it is different every day. You're kind of the one going out and getting pictures, stories, or wherever the company needs you to be.</p>

<p>However this is just from TV, which is why it's probably not true.</p>

<p>What do you do in PR? If I were to major in PR and work for a magazine, tv show, or pr firm, what exactly would I do? The situation I described above sounds fun to me.</p>
