If I am 1/2 Chinese, 1/4 European (Norweigan, Scottish, German, Spanish) and 1/4 Mexican (a Yaqui indian, although only 1/32), does that make me a urm?

no, prolly not.

does someone ever ask if your mexican or hispanic? if not, then why would you say mexican?

also, can you bring your mexican culture to the table and join a latino club?

what did you mark down on your app as your ethnic origin?

I haven't marked anything down yet. But for things like the PSAT, I marked down mexican. and i got some award for being a national hispanic scholar.

but im not in any latino clubs.

oh, you're not applying early?

no im applying RD. i applied to oxford, and that app was due around oct. 1, so no time for early.

but apps generally say "check all that apply", so that would be white, mexican, and chinese.

yeah, im not sure how they'll view 3rd generation....they want urms primarily for their end of the year stats, but if they have their pick of the litter in terms of minorities, then they'll choose the highest achieving ones and the ones who will contribute aspects of their heritage to campus the most...

white, hispanic, asian.

simple as that.

wait....what do you mean "white, hispanic asian. simple as that?"

u need to check those.

yea, i know i need to check those. im just wondering if the fact that im white and asian cancels out the fact that im mexican.
