What exactly they are looking for when they review Trustee scholarship applicants?

Any thoughts?

Any trustee scholars reading this can fill in on their SAT, GPA and other ECs. That will be really helpful

From the site, they want top 1% of class but invite those in the top 5-10% to apply. My son’s class doesn’t rank - so much for that! Would be curious to see those who got it and their stats.

I’d like to know too. Honestly, my essay wasn’t so great =/. But my ACT is amazing and GPA is really good… so i’m hoping they weigh those heavily =P

my impression is generally that trustee scholars could be going to an ivy league school but wouldn’t likely get a huge scholarship there. their stats reflect that.

I thought my essay was decent, but I’m hoping they do weigh test scores pretty heavily. I do wonder if they’re looking for the crazy extracurricular type, who founded clubs, raised money, etc, or are they more focused on just academics?

Anybody know when notifications go out?

late march - early april

bump … even though it’s not late March yet, we’re getting closer. Do they notify online about Trustee’s or by mail?

hey guys, i’m a trustee scholar and i saw this thread so thought i would chime in.
first of all they are looking for moderate academic success
my GPA was about 3.75 with a bunch of aps, my sat was 2280, got some 5’s on ap exams
so clearly, you need good academics, but it doesn’t have to be outstanding
many of the trustee scholars are valedictorians; however, if you went to a competitive school that is not necessary - i was most certainly not the valedictorian in my high school

in addition, most of the trustee scholars got into a few or no ivy leagues so i wouldn’t necessarily say many turned down ivys

as for what they’re looking for, i would say they want a certain amount of talent and diversity

some trustee scholars have lower grades and test scores but they founded a ton of clubs in their high school
other trustee scholars had excellent grades and sat’s or internships and research

i was notified that i had been accepted by mail, also you can check on the website.

if you have any questions ask away

I applied for the MLK and Trustee scholarship…any idea when we find out? I’d really like to know. Are they both online with our admissions decision?

I’m not positive, but I thought I read that several people’s principals/counselors were notified first and they found out from them in years past. Generally sometime this week, but I’m guessing next week is a definite possibility due to the increase in apps.
