I’m supposed to be writing a paper on free will. Due tomorrow.

@OminousRun

I wouldn’t consider that old school. Pretty much every math test I’ve taken barred the use of calculators/cheat sheets. Plus, there really isn’t much to memorize i multi-variable, you can pretty much derive everything.

INTRO COS ON THE OTHER HAND!!! HATING THIS MEMORIZATION, and it’s tedious, error-prone stuff

I haven’t taken a math class since elementary school that didn’t allow a calculator.

Our whole mathematics department bans calculators in tests. It’s not even like a professor-based thing. And now I’m done with multivar wooo! I get to take DiffyQ’s next semester, which I’ve actually heard is easier, thank God.

pre-modern east asian history (kill me)

Kalthar,

I know it differs from school to school. I was watching youtube lectures of Cal-Berkeley’s multivariable calc class, and they allowed a FULL SHEET prepared by each student for use on the test. This is Cal-Berkeley for goodness sake.

Many students take Calc 3 with the use of calculators (graphing). This is common at the community college level.

It depends on what you refer to as “memorization” in multivariable. The formula for tangential and normal components for acceleration, curvature. Knowing how to convert from rectangular to cylindrical to spherical. Green’s theorem, Stoke’s, Curl (easy to derive), divergence (also easy to derive). You need to know all of these things, know where to apply them and know how to use them to get the correct answer.

Also, in integration there are several things to memorize, if it’s not straight forward (recognizing derivative/integration for arctan, arcsin, arccos, etc.)

Call it “memorizing” or call it “knowing it”, either way you don’t get a cheat sheet to fall back on.

I have a damn French final tomorrow, and I know i’m going to get a C at best.

When do you guys get to go home for break? I get to go home the 22nd or 23rd this time.

I’m supposed to be working on my poetry final, which was a take home one (2-3 pages for three out of six essays so 6-9 pages total) and I have about 6 pages and almost two of those essays done.
My math final is tomorrow at 12:30 and I finished that review already. I’m probs just gonna brush up on it in the AM and finish poetry during that time too. (Poetry due tmrw by 4 pm) :P

@Ema - last days of finals are this Friday, the 17th but I don’t have a final that day so I’m going home Thursday. Can’t waitttt. I would haaate it if I had to stay that late, I’m sorry. :(
