What examples did you guys use in your essays?

I talked about the American melting pot, McCarthyism, and the division of religions.

Talked about Brave New World, Lord of the Flies and Scarlet Letter. I was feelin’ the literature vibe today.

I mostly talked about the problem of immigration (one about the influx of Irish immigrants and the violence in NYC’s Five Points neighborhood as a result of racial tensions/differences in cultural values/Irish alcoholic tendencies, the other about Hispanics and Latinos in modern day America and the immigration law in AZ).

what was your topic?
mine was something along the lines of
getting along well with different people of other interests . .
i used a fake book & experience cause i spent too long thinking @_@

The movie avatar and the Great Gatsby:D

Haha. yeah that was mine. I feel like I didn’t get a great chance to develop my examples, but they were okay. But I think I got at least a 10.

The topic for the essay was a sucker punch for my preplanned examples so i had to think of ones impromptu.

Are we allowed to discuss these?
I said that common interests/personalities do make getting along easier, and used the friendship of FDR, Churchill, and Stalin, Lord of the Rings, and Angels and Demons for mine.

American Revolution
Holden Caulfield (Catcher in the Rye)
Democratic/Republican Parties (incorporated the recent healthcare issue)

AP USH for the win:
I used the pre-Civil War Congress (e.g. when Charles Sumner–a Northern Congressman–was beaten by a Southern one).
I also used the relationship between blacks and whites in the pre-civil war South: especially slaves and their masters (e.g. how the slaves used to try and poison their masters and how the masters sometimes needlessly beat and whipped their slaves).
I was going to use John Brown as well, but I ran out of space.

The topic for the essay was a sucker punch for my preplanned examples so i had to think of ones impromptu.

===============================

Me too, but I kinda shifted mine around to fit the prompt. My last example was crap for this prompt, but I wrote a lot and I’d be very disappointed if I didn’t get a 10+

I wrote a very profound conclusion, im hoping that will help?

wow, the relationship between blacks and whites in the pre-civil war South sounds like a good idea
wish i would’ve thought of historical examples, but nothing came up.

Am I the only one with topic that was like
Is sotude n_ceary in aievg a g__l? (don’t want to be candid)

Much ado about Nothing, William Shakespeare
Things Fall apart, Chinua Achebe
Edie Sedgwick and Andy Warhol

lord of the flies (piggy and ralphs friendship)
hamlet and horatio from hamlet
south korean alliance with democratic world

I didn’t use historical examples, instead I mostly recounted anecdotes from my personal experiences and observations.

^ LOL same. I used a lot of personal examples & observations. I just hope i scored decently :/

Do you think I’ll get marked down on this? I couldn’t fit any literary examples in :[

Steve Jobs and Wozniak, Into Thin Air, Of Mice and Men

Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn, Paul McCartney and John Lennon. So much for my preplanned examples, haha.
