What extracirriculars do you guys recomend me taking up?

I'd like to make it into UC but my extracirriculars basically suck. I take piano, guitar, and hopefully drums soon.. and thats basically it. My grades.. 3.7-8ish this sophomore year.

I'll probably be volunteering at the John Muier hospital next year if I can get in.

What have you guys taken, or are taking? Im huge sports guy.. though i did take martial arts for 3 years (not anymore though).

HELP PLEASE

You seem to like music so maybe music lessons to kids for free?
start your own band?
join school band?

Well you can apply to a few talent shows and see where that takes you, or volunteer for a few non profit music performances or competitions.

As for sports, you can volunteer at a local sports league for children. Get community service hours while following your passion, and try internships at some professional sports place near you.

For the UCs you really need to focus on your GPA and your SAT scores first and foremost. You don't mention if that 3.7ish is UC gpa. Go to the UC pages and look up UC formula. There is a very specific formula for calculating a UC gpa. Basically they throw out most non academics, only consider 10-12 grades and weighting is according to a very strict list of which classes are weighted.
As far as ECs go, any EC you are taking to improve your chances at getting into any college will not be very satisfying for you.
Look around at the world outside yourself and choose to be involved in it. The ECs will follow.

School jazz band.

Or, I have heard that forensics (speech) and debate are highly regarded by colleges; if you are only going to do one school EC activity, you might consider one of these, if you have any inclination in that direction.

Do what you are interested in and will care a lot about. It's dumb to do things simply because you feel like you have to.

It's important to look at--from a college admissions standpoint--that admissions officers want to see QUALITY involvement in extracurriculars. They would much rather see three and four years of three diff't organizations rather than one year involvement in 6 or 7 extracurriculars.

I was thinking about volunteering at my local public library... but I heard they wern't taking any more volunteers because of some problems they were causing. I liked the idea of volunteering at the library since I could easily walk there from home... would you guys think it would be a good idea to ask if they would consider me as a volunteer?

ones that you like...
dont lie to yourself about who you are
do what you like, do it a lot
enjoy it
show colleges you have a passion.

Do what you like. Like what you do. Looking slightly better on an app and being miserable every weekend for the next few years isn't worth it in my book.
