What extracurriculars should I take?

As a junior in high school, I'm not sure on what ECs I want to take to prepare for film school or even beyond that when I actually have a job in the industry. My ultimate goal is to become a director, like everyone else. Can anyone give suggestions on what ECs I should take part in?

I know nothing about careers or schools related to the film industry so total disclaimer here. Based on observation only, the kids who went from S’s high school to good film/theatre programs all were heavily involved in theatre–in and out of the school. Our school encourages students to do their own directing/casting etc for small festivals–one acts, Shakespeare, etc–and there are also some community theatre organizations that allow students to get involved in all aspects. See what is available and go to community theatre productions. One girl at UCLA was an actress, seamstress, director, techie, etc for all types of shows in high school and senior year directed some video/film pieces done by a group of kids. I don’t know if the students chose ECs because of their ultimate career goal or, more likely, they were involved in these things because they loved theatre and film. At the same time, many of these same students were involved in activities that didn’t seem remotely linked to their future career goals. Therefore, if you love field hockey, don’t drop it because it doesn’t seem related to becoming a film director.
