I'm having trouble finding this info, and my roommates and I are planning our dorms. I'm assuming:

Bed
Desk

Anything else? Desk chair? Bookshelf? Does the desk have a bookshelf built into it?

Thanks!

That’s pretty much it I think (I’m in Vanderbilt as well: Berkeley or Branford?)

Bed. Desk. Closet. 2-3 drawer dresser.

Branford, WOOT! BFA! How about you?

So should I get a bookshelf?

Most families hold off on the bigger items until they arrive. Then go out to IKEA and get the wanted/needed/missing items. It even alters year to year and definitely hall to hall. Check out the Yale parents’ thread over on the 2013 forum. Lots of good experience from Yale moms over there!

Check out this link:
[Office of Housing and Residential Education | Vanderbilt University](<a href=“Housing and Residential Experience | Vanderbilt University”>Housing and Residential Experience | Vanderbilt University)
It tells you everything about each residence hall and what stuff is available in each room. Hope it helps!!

^ Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think Vanderbilt University lies within the walls of Yale

@Phreez, I think OP is referring to Vanderbilt Hall
[Berkeley College (Yale) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](Berkeley College (Yale University) - Wikipedia)

I know, I was referring to the poster above me

Oh sorry I didn’t read that. My bad :P

-1 extra long twin bed (so get the odd sheets that fit)
-1 desk, with a small set of 2 drawers in the desk that aren’t actually attached to the desk (you can roll them out).
-some combination of a set of three drawers, and a bureau or a closet (not all 3, varies by bedroom. In D11, i had a set of three drawers and a bureau shared with my roommate. If you have a tiny bedroom, it might just be a set of 3 drawers under the bed).

Best to assess what you need when you move in. Ikea is nearby.

You also may have a window seat in the common room with some storage cabinets underneath. We used this for shared non-perishable food. Generally a good place for stuff shared in your suite, appliances, cleaning supplies, whatnot.
