What good pharmacy schools can I get into?

I am very interested in getting into a good Pharmacy school but not sure which ones I can get into like Ohio State, U of M, Purdue, or pretty much any schools that offer a Pre-Pharmacy undergraduate. Here are my credentials:

Age: 17

Live: (Detroit) St. Clair Shores, MI

GPA: 3.2 (My School is ranked top 5 in Michigan [University of Detroit Jesuit] and with most public schools in the state, that would be a 4.1 easy)

ACT: 25 (Only took once at beginning of Junior year)

Service: By end of senior year well over 300 and also am an Eagle Scout

Extracurriculars: Mock Trial (or a Team Debate) and on this team went to States and our ranked in top teams every year. Also a 4-year member of Quiz Bowl. Also on a hockey team, and I also started my own trap-team (was previously sponsored by Mr. Pita)

Jobs:I started a real job at age 11, as a caddy, and caddied for 5 years. I also worked at a local paint store for several years. I am still working at a Hungry Howie's (pizza place) which I have been working at for 2 years, and also just recently quit at a Kroger's which I was working at for about 6 monthes. I was working 50-60 hours a week during the summer, and the first semester 40 hours a week. ( Although now, only 15-20)

I'm not sure what else I should tell about myself that would give you all a better picture of who I am.

Well I wouldn't be surprise if you could get into the schools you've listed, though with high rank schools like such it's hard to determine.

I would also look at Michigan State University. A student at my school is attending Ferris State University for their Pre-Pharmacy program in Big Rapids, Michigan. Not sure how much interest you have in looking at that school either.

My school, being one of the only Jesuit high schools in the country, does not believe in class rank which impresses most colleges surprisingly. Ferris State, as far as I have been told, is a party school, and not very highly ranked in Pharmacy schools, I was looking for a maybe top 25 school.

If you want to pursue a PharmD, you might want to look at programs with a “guaranteed seat” as getting from pre-pharm to professional school can be quite difficult at schools like Purdue. They accept far more pre-pharm students than they can take in the PharmD program. Transferring after 2 years of prerequisites is absolutely possible but is competitive and risky.

You might look at Butler, Findlay, St Louis College of Pharmacy, etc. Also, you can find more info on these forums:

My daughter is graduating from Marian HS in Bloomfield Hills this spring. Have you thought about the U of Pittsburgh? Most people around here don’t, although it is about 5 hours away, just like Chicago. Anyway, she put pre-pharm on her application, and qualified for conditional admission to Pitt’s PharmD program. Pitt has a huge medical center very close to campus. Also, the out of state tuition there is very reasonable compared to other schools. She hasn’t decided yet whether she will attend there, but we’ve visited a couple of times and were very impressed with the school and the neighborhood around it.

Also, I don’t know if you are a junior or senior, but see if you can bring your ACT score up, might help with scholarships as well.

Check it out, and good luck!
