Against the suggestions of many on this board (though with the suggestion of my college adviser and parents), I mailed a letter of appeal to my #1 college attempting to rectify various shortcomings of my application and begging for a chance of reconsideration...

...three weeks ago.

I know college admissions officers are probably busy right now trying to deal with final matriculation and who to take off the waitlist, but if I'm just going to be told "thanks but no thanks," can't they just find someone to mail me and the other appealers the "one-size-fits-all" 'no' letter and be done with it? Or, could it be a miracle that they are actually taking time to consider it? (This is a school that my adviser told me has overturned less than 5 decisions in the last decade.)

Anyone have an idea?
