So everyone at my school that I know that applied to UMN-TC already got their decisions, most applied right on the nov. 1st deadline. I applied early September and still haven’t gotten a decision. I read on another thread that usually the wait to send out rejections at the end. I don’t if that’s true.
I have an 3.5 gpa and applied to CLA. I asked if anything was missing, and they didn’t really reply, just directed me to the app tracker.
@Flowers987 what is your ACT/SAT?
Edit to add: Is the 3.5 weighted or uw?
Act 23
3.5 weighted
Do you know your unweighted? You should be able to calculate it using the 4.0 scale: A=4, A-=3.67, B+=3.33, B=3, etc. Weight each grade value by the number of credits earned in that course (usually but not always 1.0) and then divide by total number of credits. This will help you understand what UMN is seeing (because they do something like that in order to put everyone on the same scale).
I wouldn’t assume rejection but if your GPA is hovering right above a 3.0 uw and with the low ACT it’s going to be a reach - which would make the celebration all the more joyous if you do get accepted . Having a hook or two - which I believe you do? - will definitely help your case. Crossing my fingers for you. Good luck!

Low income should help with financial aid. First generation is one of the factors that they consider as significant (not a primary factors like grades and ACT but it will help nonetheless). AA should help in terms of contributing to the diversity of university community.
Hey Flower. Go see your guidance counselor at your high school and have them call for you. Make sure they actually talk to someone to give you some sort of answer. You have alot going for you. Have you considered taking the SAT instead of the ACT? Perhaps you would do better?
