okay, this is a kinda rant and i also want others opinions..
i was wondering about all the commercials and shows on tv that are getting ready for christmas when thanksgiving hasnt even come yet?
i know that presents are great and everything, but i like the FOOD!!
(yes i sound like a fat person but im actually not) I mean there really isnt a feast on christmas but thanksgiving there is....

What the eff is thanksgiving pride?

Yeah, since when is Thanksgiving something to market? Thanksgiving doesn’t sell presents, just pie!

Isn’t pie enough though? I mean come on, it’s pie!

And I do agree that there should be a little less focus on Christmas till Thanksgiving is over, I mean come on. Playing Christmas songs on the radio three weeks ago is stupid…

The government is worried people arn’t going to buy stuff for christmas. So to get people into the mood they are taking over radio stations and making them spam christmas music over the airwaves. It’s true!

DP

“The” Thanksgiving pride? Did it ever exist?

The bottom line is, people don’t buy anything for Thanksgiving besides food.

I’m not sure exactly what Thanksgiving pride is.

Idk, it just seems that all these companies know that people are going to be spending less because of the economy. They want to encourage spending (i.e. at Christmas time, the biggest shopping season of the year). Thanksgiving really isn’t a big consumer holiday other than the food buying.

What’s thanksgiving pride?

1). Is it about the food, (mmm… turkey…)

or

2). Is it about the whitewashing of history that perpetuates lies that pilgrims and Native Americans were inseperable friends while atrocities such as Indian Wars, disease outbreaks, and forced migration never happened… All from a White Anglo-Saxon Protestant view of American history of course… Why was this such a big issue in elementary school??? Was it that they really had nothing to teach us? What’s the deal with Johnny Appleseed? Why does he get censored in high school???

Hahaha, oh wow.

That’s the kind of intense answer you can only get on CC… or from Howard Zinn.

What about giving thanks? I thought that was the point of Thanksgiving? I mean, besides the food and the whitewashing of American history.

I don’t know. I feel like the “giving thanks” deal is done mostly in elementary school and in movies… of course, I probably feel that way because my family doesn’t do it…

Oh, Howard Zinn. Brings back memories from APUSH.

The playing of Christmas music and the aisles of those holidays goods pre-T Day have been going on for years now. It has nothing to do with the current financial crisis.

It kinds of makes me sad, because I have a late November birthday. So for us, the family holiday was extra special since my Gma prepared two birthday cakes, one for me and another for my cousin who also had a late November birthday. And Gma would dress in her pilgrim costume. Hilarious!

omg!!!
that is funny, i thought my family was crazy but ur gma dressing like a pilgrim is hilarious! no offense or anything…
