You'll love Boston - congrats on your acceptance in the program.

As to the rejections, take a minute to do the math - calculate the chance of not being accepted by the ivies plus Standord - its going to look something like

.9 x .9 x .9 ...... (don't have time to do it all - but you won't like the number you see at the end).

If you were asking for finaid, your chances of being rejected were higher, and the NJ factor did'nt help. But - it could have easily gone the other way - its just that it didn't.

If you can swing BU, you should probably do so. A friend's D that just went through med school admissions spent about 8500 on apps, test prep, interviews, visits, etc. And she said it made college admissions look like a walk in the park. And as far as selectivity goes - it's probably just as selective (if not more so) then HYP etc.).

You got into BU 7 year? Wow! What are you complaining for? So many people go to that over Ivies. In the last couple of years, two kids went there over UPenn and Yale. The BU 7 year is insanely selective. Congrats

actually if you apply to all the Ivies plus Stanford, your chances of getting into one of them are greater than 50%...that's not bad....
granted most people don't apply to so many...but even if you apply to 5, you have about a 40% change of getting into one...

Chances dont always work out your way though, I suppose...

You look fine to me. The only thing I can think of is the essays. You say they're wonderful, but pretty much everyone on this site says that about their essays. But you got into a 7 year program? Never mind, then. Some would say that's better than Harvard. Good job.
