What happenes if your sick on test day?

I had a horrible experience when I took the ACTs back in June. I had a horrible respiratory infection that made it impossible to breathe and I had to keep coughing and blowing my nose. If anyone should get sick on test day can they attend the makeup test or what?

im wondering this too. Ive been blowing my nose like crazy for the past 24 hours, and less than 36 hours til test time.

My daughter took the SAT last June while she was pretty sick (terrible cold). When I picked her up from the test she looked horrible, and she said it was very hard to concentrate on the test. I told her she should cancel her score, and she felt that since she invested so much time preparing for and taking the test, she did not want to do that. Needless to say, she dropped more than 100 points from the May test, and now she is not sending any SAT scores to colleges (she is submitting ACT instead.) She took the ACT 1 week later, and although she was not yet feeling 100%, she recieived her highest ACT score at that sitting.

My point is that the ACT/SAT are tough and tiring tests under the best of circumstances, and I think being sick really diminishes your chances to do your best. However, at least with the ACT, you can only send your best scores, so this is not as much of an issue. I know my daughter is kicking herself for: a) taking the test when she was so sick in the first place, and b) not cancelling her scores after the test.

If there is the possibility to take a make-up test or test at a later date, I would definitely do it that way rather than take the test when you are sick. Good luck!

There is no such thing as a make-up test date (except for mandatory state testing in Illinois etc.). If you show up to test, you can still call and cancel your scores within a few days, though there's little point to canceling since you can't get a refund. If you don't show up to test, you can call and change your registration to a later test date for a fee of around $20. But for that price you almost might as well test if you can stand to, then register again at full price.
