thank you so much.

have no clue how that school is, but if u dont get in, its relaly hard to take it, but if u think about life as a whole, its not gonna be over yet.

why does no one ever help me

Your numbers match, better than average; I think you stand a shot. Good luck with Skidmore! Skidmore is competitive, but you have a nice advantage over their average applicant.

If you are a NY resident, I don't doubt you'll get into Geneseo. I don't know what Hartwick is, but I wish you luck with that as well.

:)

AS.

We can't help you because we can't answer your question. How should we know what you'll do if you don't get in? That decision will be up to you.

You can apply elsewhere (As late as the summer, there will be some schools looking for applicants), take a year off or you can permanently decide not to go to college. It will be your decision.

About 40% of college applicants do not get into their first choice college. Most go elsewhere and end up being perfectly happy there. If you look in the CC archives, you can find plenty of posts by people who were rejected by their first choice (or even their top several choices), yet have happy lives as college students elsewhere.

Oh! Sorry, and if you don't get into your top choice school... take some time off. Unforunately, the way college admissions works is by semester; if you don't make it in one semester you have to wait a WHOLE other semester to apply again, or somewhere else.

If you get into any other college, GO there. You can always TRANSFER to Skidmore the following semester and have a better shot of getting in, due to the fact that transfer admissions are always easier and accept more applicants than they would regularly (in regards to GPA, ECs).

AS.

it was a rhetorical question (i've had plently of experience with the college process from my siblings), but thanks to everyone. and yes, i live in ny.

Most people are happy even at their second, third, or fourth choice school.

bump...i'm not asking what i'm actually supposed to do, because obviously i'm going to go to one of the other colleges i'm applying to...it was rhetorical. a dramatic exaggeration. i'm asking for chances please?

You still have time right now to apply to a rolling admission school.

This is the main reason that people (mostly parents) state that you should:
have a bottoms up approach to applying
you should love your safety school (you could very well end up attending)
You should apply to a rolling admission school to take off some of the pressure and to ensure you have a school to attend

If you end up with no place to go, you can take a gap yeae (you will not be the first or last person to do this).

If you don't get in, you're going to be sad. And that thin envelope will haunt your dreams and your days for the week to come. But then it'll slowly happen, the hurt and the sadness will fade away like sand in the hourglass. Dribbling away until there are those few grains that never move from the top to the bottom, because there will always be a tinge of sadness. But you'll go somewhere else, maybe a second choice, a third, a safety!

But it will be what you make it, you will find the place where you are meant to be, everything happens for a reason.

Keep your hopes high, realism higher, and always have a Plan C because sometimes everything changes.

emizzly - have you received acceptances from any of these schools yet??

no..deadlines are dec 1 and jan 15

So emlizzy.... update please...lol. Where were you accepted...and have you made a decision on where you're attending?

i got accepted everywhere, attending Skidmore. thanks everyone!
