What happens if I fail a class senior year (calculus 2)??

I’m taking all of my classes at my community college for senior year. I’m in Calculus II right now, and, hypothetically (not freaking out over the 15% pass rate or anything…) , how screwed would I be if I got a D or an F? Like, would I be rescinded for sure? Or would they have some modicum of understanding since it is a college class? I’m talking about competitive liberal arts colleges here. Would my safeties still be safe? (A big state flagship and a less competitive LAC)
If anyone has experience with something similar that would be helpful.

There is a very real possibility of being rescinded with a D or F. Either get extra help or drop the class.

Is this class required for graduation from high school? If yes then you are not going to be able to graduate and it does not matter if it is really hard. Talk to you gc asap to figure that out. Now if the class is not required (for example that is not your 4th year of math requirement) and you get an F or a D I suggest you reach out to the colleges you applied to let them know and see what they say. They WILL find out no matter what when they review your transcript and it is better if you tell them early and see what they suggest. If they will rescind you it is better to find that as soon as possible so you see what your other choices are. There is no for sure answer.

If you are failing a college level class now it would indicate that you cannot handle college level work.

If you get a D you’ll have to retake it again when you get there.

Agree with @Erin’sdad. Get help, bring the grade up or drop it if you can.

Calculus 2 is considered to be one of the hardest calculus sequence. Get help. Ask for help from college students.

The commonly used quote on CC is “No D’s, F’s or felonies” so yes, it could definitely be an issue if you flunk the course.

Dropping the class could also have negative consequences on your applications (and you would have to notify colleges of the schedule change or it could be grounds for a rescinded acceptance) but I agree that a drop is better than a D or F. Can you get a tutor, go to math center, etc. to help bring the grade up?

Does the course have a 15% pass rate? That seems ridiculous. You may want to confirm that with the prof. or (if the prof says it is true) the dept. head.

Assuming this isn’t intro to calculus 2 and this is in fact the calculus that comes after intro to calculus, a 15% pass rate at a community college isn’t that unbelievable.

Not to pile it on, but if you’re considering med school, this D or F will be part of your GPA when you apply. You have to report all college coursework, including classes taken as a high schooler.

Drop the class. A D or F will get you rescinded.
Tell the colleges that your schedule changed and you had to drop Calculus 2.

What ended up happening? Did you fail or get a D , get a C or better, or drop/withdrawal the course?

I finished with a B-! Without the curve, it would have probably been a C. I was pretty stressed about it because I was COMPLETELY unprepared for the last test (not final), so I skipped it in favor of my final taking the place of that test (a policy my teacher has), so my final ended up being half of my grade. I was (and am) accepted & committed to my dream school so there was a lot weighing on that one exam. It worked out, but in hindsight, I really did not need to take that class and it would have been a much more enjoyable semester had I taken an easier math class (my professor was very surprised when I told him my future plans - apparently a non-STEM major going to a LAC is not the typical student in his class xD)

I’m glad to hear that you pulled a pretty decent grade, all things considering. Congrats!
