What happens if I send an AP score of 5 to Fordham?

<a href="http://www.fordham.edu/admissions/undergraduate_admiss/applying/advanced_placement_a_29654.asp">http://www.fordham.edu/admissions/undergraduate_admiss/applying/advanced_placement_a_29654.asp</a></p>

Looking at that.. I'll get 3 credits. Do I just not have to take a course, or do I go to a higher level course? Because I kind of want to take my AP course again (or a higher level of it) to boost my GPA, so I'm considering not sending my score of 5.

If you have a chance of getting 3 credits, thereby saving almost $5k, why wouldn’t you?

Retaking the class is a risk as you do not know what kind of papers, projects and other work is involved, not to mention that it would be BORING to rehash the material all over again.

My DD is coming in with some AP and transfer credits and it is allowing her to add on another concentration to her major. Go to DEGREE WORKS on my.fordham.edu, click on Student, scroll down and it is in middle column. See what you need to take for your major. There is another tab in there that allows you to try out different majors/minors/etc. and hit the PROCESS key to see how it affects what classes you need.

Some students have a hard time fitting in all of the classes they need within four years, so missing out on this “free 3 credits” is something to think about.

I would not let my daughter blow $5K. She wanted to not take one of her AP tests as it conflicted with something. I made her take it, and she got the credits, saving us $5k. If she wanted to retake a class for an easy A, I would make HER pay for it.

Why don’t you ask your parents THEIR opinion on it? Getting someone’s input is not “being dependent.” Intelligence is not knowing the answer, but WHERE to GET the answer. Good luck and congrats on getting a 5.

As a Gabelli student, they only let you skip 3 classes with a 4 or 5. Micro, Macro and Calc. The rest of the AP credit will be used as the Liberal Arts Electives. Explore your Fordham Portal, it shows 18 transfer credits for my son which can not used to get out of History, etc. only electives. This will be helpful when he adds a concentration or minor.
Also, he has received e-mails about the what math do you want to take now that you have a 5 on AP Calc. Did you get something like that?

DD has 15 AP credits and 6 or 8 additional transfer ones. Of the AP ones, all are Lib Arts electives for Gabelli, except the Spanish, which counts for SPAN 1502. (got a 5 and a 766 on placement test as confirmation). Does not have any Math AP credits. She is waiting to see how the transfer ones are counted.

As a Gabelli student, isn’t his math already covered by the AP score? He still needs to take additional math?
