what happens if i submit the css form but

the non custodial css is never received?

my parents are separated and my mom doesn't want to go through the hassle of contacting my dad. plus, he lives in another country and i dont think he would comply. is it okay to just send the css and leave it. theyve been saperated for a few years now

In my opinion, your mom needs to make a good faith effort to get your dad to complete the non-custodial Profile. The colleges using the Profile expect that the non-custodial parent will comply with this requirement. Just not feeling like "complying" does not excuse that requirement....otherwise LOTS of non-custodial parents would simply not complete the form. Does your dad provide any financial support to your family??

You could apply to FAFSA only schools that do not require the non-custodial parent to provide information.

Or you could see if you qualify for a waiver of the non-custodial parent info. This is NOT easy to qualify for...but you could inquire about it.

It IS a hassle contacting a non-custodial parent in some cases. However the "hassle" component does not excuse a family from having to meet the requirement.

My ex husband refused to complete it for my daughter and currently I am pursuing him for back child support of $134,000 so I am not even attempting to ask him to complete it. I had no problem the first time getting a waiver for special circumstance and no problem this time. In fact, I think only 3 schools even required the non-custodial parent form and they all waived it.
