What happens if I take over 60 credits at community college before transferring?

I have a list of a few schools and in order to complete all the course requirements for all the schools I have to take 67 credits at community college. These schools will only accept 60 credits. So what will happen? Will the one i transfer too just drop the most irrelevant 7 credits? I am planning on being a finance major, but possibly double major in psychology.

You are basically correct. Each college/university determines for itself which credits will transfer and as what. If you should be in the fortunate situation that all of your credits are transferable, you will be able to request that the ones that are most useful for your degree program be the ones that are recorded on your new transcript.

In some cases, they may limit the amount of credits given. This may extend to, for example, a 5 credit course at the community college being converted to 4 credits because it is equivalent to a 4 credit course at the university. But even if your credits are reduced or capped, they may still allow all courses taken to count for subject credit in terms of meeting prerequisites for more advanced courses, etc…

But check each school’s policy to make sure.
