What happens if I wrote my essays in pencil?

So when I was taking AP English Lit, the administrator pointed out to me halfway through my third essay that I was supposed to be writing in pen, not pencil (not her fault, it was my own fault for not paying attention). Given that by that point I was already starting to lose it due to writer's block, I decided to go back through the essays and trace over the words in pen. I got through the first essay and began the second, but unfortunately I didn't have time to finish it and only traced over the first couple paragraphs. What's going to happen to my test? Will I just fail? Will they offer a redo? Would they even be able to read the essays that I traced over in pen?

you should have just kept it in pencil.

they really end up not caring because there are always few that turn it in pencil.

As long as they can read it, it will be graded.
