What happens if my acceptance is rescinded?

I'm an International student from Singapore, and I've been accepted to Brown, Vassar, Boston U, NYU.

And I think I'll be going to Brown. However, I'm afraid that my acceptance will be rescinded.

My predicted A level grades were all As.

However my A level grades became like this:

History: A
Literature: A
General Paper: A
Economics: D

The only thing that didn't match my predicted grades was Economics, but I know it's a pretty huge drop. I know colleges consider a minimum C for a pass. Will they think I failed my Economics? It isn't a fail in A level context, there's still E. And then AO pass and then F (these two are real fails)

I seriously don't know what happened to Economics. I studied the hardest for it, probably for 5 hours everyday for 2 months before the exam. My Economics teacher knows how hard I worked for it because she has been staying back in school with me till 9pm during that period to go through essays and stuff with me.

She definitely finds my A level results as a shock, and is quite eager to write a letter to Brown for me, when I discussed this with her, she said she expected at least a B from me, or as a worst case scenario, a C.

My class tutor will also be writing a letter for me to vouch that it definitely wasn't senioritis and that I really did work hard for my A levels.

(All A level papers were shipped to Cambridge, England to be marked. That's why my school teachers don't know anything about why I got a D. After I submit my exam papers I never get to see them again. They are probably still in England)

Will the two letters work?

Do I have to write a letter to explain for the grade as well? I really don't know how to account for it. It was a complete shock, I completely don't know why caused the D, except for maybe a minor flu on that day, which really couldn't have affected me that much.

The thing is, if Brown does rescind my acceptance. I will only be notified after May 1. Which means that my other 3 acceptances will be useless since I did not reply by the due date.

Does that mean I will be left stranded with 4 acceptances but no college to go to? Can I pay the deposit for a place at Vassar too just in case?

Comments and advice would be appreciated! Thanks :)

Can you file an appeal of your Economics grade? I find it hard to believe that an A level student could study five hours a day for two months and have a grade that poor.

If there is an appeals process, go for it and let your college know. Have your teacher, counselor or principal mention it in his or her letter.

yes, you can send in a deposit to more than one school and its expected that some students will send in their deposits but never enroll. youre just kinda on a reverse-waitlist at brown: in but could be out. i think if you follow those steps youll be fine, though.

good luck!

Brown willnot make any action regarding rescinding your admission until they receive your final grades (which will most likely be after may 1).

You can not double deposit at schools without risking your admissions at both schools to be rescinded (read the fine print on your aceptances)

As an international student this will be harder for you because the school which you have been admitted and will ultimately be attending is the one that has to file your visa. With the changes and to homeland security, and immigration being a hot buttom topic right now, it will not take long for you to be found out that you are listed to attend multiple schools thus risking yor chances of being approved for a visa.

Some students do send a deposit to one school and are accepted off of the waitlist at another school and attend that school (which is perfectly doable , you just lose the deposit).

sending double deposits will get u kicked out at both, dotn even think of it
