What happens if there's no waitlist for a class?

The calculus class (M408N) I'm trying to get into doesn't have a waitlist.. Does that mean I should just keep on trying or should I give up? If somebody drops, can I still be able to get in?

Normally, that means that the wait list is full. If anyone in the class or on the wait list drops, then another spot on the wait list will open up. You’ll just have to keep on checking. Good luck!

Some classes don’t have waitlists at all. This one probably has a waitlist. It could just be that the waitlist is full and the waitlist will open if someone drops the class. In that case, you would have to refresh the page every so often and get on the waitlist if you see an opening. I don’t think that you would have a great chance of getting the class though because it would put you at the end of a waitlist. You can consider showing up on the first day of class and asking the professor if there is an opening or if there is any way that he or she can get you in the class.

I’m going to keep on trying, since registration opens every week. The thing about my M408N class is that there’s no professor. It’s lead by staff. It’s the only class that fits in my schedule and I can’t change other classes cause I’m in a FIG.

They just don’t have a professor assigned yet. My previous calculus class didn’t have a professor’s name given on the course schedule. He turned out to be a good professor but it’s really a toss up on whether or not the professor will be good or bad.

If you were in my situation, would you stay with the staff? or try to find a different professor?

Use [Rate My Professors | Find and rate your professor, campus and more - RateMyProfessors.com](http://blog.ratemyprofessors.com/) and http://www.myedu.com/home/</a> and look up professors for your class. If you see some good reviews, then go for those professors. If you see some bad reviews, then a random professor is better than bad professor. I think that firstly, you just want to get in a M 408N class. Then you can look into swapping for a better professor/time if possible.
