<p>applying for finaid does not delay admissions. Some colleges require you to complete fafsa before they will award merit money -- they need documentation that you do not qualify for any federal/state aid prior to giving out their own....</p>
<p>Also, some schools will not consider you for financial aid in future years, if you do not apply the first year. Consider talking to the financial aid office to see if not applying will negate your ability to apply for future years if your financial situation changes.</p>
<p>the fafa isn't that hard. I think I knew I wouldn't get any money. I'm an only child, living with both my parents, and my dad pulls in over 70,000. But It was a saturday morning type thing. Finish in the morning, send that thing in, and you will hear back in a week or so.</p>
<p>If you have a financial change in circumstances, it will be easier to go to the fa office at your school to explain the situation and ask for a financial review based on the new information submitted. If you don't file, you will basically have no recourse until the next school year.</p>
