What happens if you don't get in anywhere?

I am really scared of not getting in to any of my schools. How often does that happen? And if it does, what are your options?

you can sit around home like a bum until your parents kick you out.

Or, you can go to community college and then transfer

sarah4, there are schools that are stilll accepting applications. Don't you have any safeties?
It is extremely rare to get into 0 schools if you have applied to safeties. There are spaces that go empty every year at colleges.

The national Association for college Admission Counseling www.nacac.com
every spiring post a listing of schools that still have openings for their freshman class

I'm not sure if I applied to safe enough safeties. I was rejected from Columbia ED and have been extremely unsure of myself since. I'm not sure if I'm being too optimistic for myself, and I don't want to get my hopes up. That's why I'm scared of getting not getting in anywhere. I have a 4.0 in a large public school and am #2 in my class. I have a 1490 SAT and 790,740,670 SAT IIs. Outside of school I dance everyday. I hold leadership positions at my studio and in various clubs within school. I applied to Duke, Brown, Wake Forest, Princeton, Northwestern, Barnard, Davidson, and Washington & Lee. How worried should I be, and what schools are still accepting applicants that you think I would like?

dont let an ivy rejection get you down. i think your safeties are okay, your stats are better than mine, but i'm not very confident either. i sometimes think i am too optimistic also, but i did have one in-state safety. i dont know how well you would like it, but i think American University in DC has a Feb 15 deadline, and they take common app. i supose it's a reasonable school, my sister goes there.

There are alway some schools with openings. When I lived in Westchester County, there were always a number of schools that had walk in admissions with SAT scores and transcript--accept on the spot most of the time. Here, we don't have as many choices, but there are a number of schools, some quite good that have admissions right up to the day classes start. I know Pitt which is a top 300 school has spots, even in its honors college right to June. Rutgers, another good school always has some openings. Temple in Philly takes kids right to the end. Not shabby choices.

If you are worried, I would pick up a copy of "US News Ultimate College Directory".
It has a list of schools that still are open.
Some are Drew, Earlham, Muhlenberg, College of Wooster, Allegheny, Gettysburg, Kalamazoo and more. You would probably get scholarships at these schools.
