What happens if you don't graduate from Penn State in 4 years?

Right now, I'm going to Penn State Lehigh. I'm already in the process of completing my 4th semester and I will be transferring to University park for the fall. I want to know what will happen if I don't graduate on time (in 4 years). I was thinking about taking the 12 credit minimum each semester so that I have a little more leisure time (and so that it would take 5 semester for me to finish instead of 4).

Would there be any negative consequences with going with such a plan (other than the fact that my arrival into the workforce is delayed by 6 months)? If so, what?

It shouldn’t be a problem. Lots of people take longer than 4 years to graduate, especially those who attend state schools. There are many reasons that people take longer than 4 years. I can’t imagine that this will be a problem for you in the future.

The most negative consequence is paying for an extra semester of school.
