i know you get put on probation, but does anything else happen?

Below 1.5gpa, aren't you automatically kicked out?

You still have finals to pass the courses.

do you really get kicked out??????????

that cant be true, i think they have to put you on probation first.

Academic Probation

Students are placed on probation if their overall or term grade-point average falls between 1.5 and 1.99. While they are on probation, they may not take any course on a Passed/Not Passed basis. Probation ends at the close of a regular term if students have attained a C (2.0) average for the term and a cumulative C average in all University work. Students who do not end probation within two terms are subject to dismissal.

Academic Dismissal

Students are subject to dismissal from the University under any of the following conditions:

If their grade-point average in any one term is less than 1.5 or

If they do not earn at least a C (2.0) average in any term when they are on probation or

If they do not end probation within two terms

If students are subject to dismissal, their transcripts carry that notation. They should make an appointment with their College or school counselor. Depending on the situation, they are given conditions for continuation or are dismissed from the University.

Malishka,

If you feel that you are in danger of failing all your classes, GO SEE A COUNSELOR NOW.

You do NOT want this on your lifelong record.

and hopefully you don't!

i might just withdraw. thennothing is on my record.

i don't understand how you can be certain of getting a D or lower in every class you are taking this quarter when its only half over. You have finals left which can pull you out of a hole as long as you study for them. Anyways, if you have a good reason for your poor grades, i guess you could get on academic probation. My only advice to you is to study your ass of for finals!!!

i am leaving UCLA after this quarter anyways.

I might just withdraw so i dont have to show UCLA on my record.

Malishka,

If you received any financial aid, you cannot "hide" the fact that you went to UCLA and withdrew.

Actually, you pretty much cannot hide that you went there. Especially in the line of work you're interested in.

Intrested in, doesnt mean i will end up doing that.

Either way, if you apply to grad school or many jobs, it will be very easy to find out what happened. Do NOT take the lazy route. Make sure that whatever choice you make, you minimize the long-term damage. If that means standing in line at Murphy Hall for an hour, then do it. If it means having to file tons of paperwork, then do it.

However, do not let this lie dormant and expect it to go away. Unfortunately, it's very easy today for people to dig up information on you-- including private employers.

Please please please take care to handle this in a responsible manner.

What?

i will withdraw from 1 class probably... its not irresponsible.

you should see my community college transcript... i have 19W's

i don't understand your point. if you are leaving UCLA, then why are you even worried about what you get in ur classes?? And if you are applying to ANY grad schools (med, law, dent, masters etc.), you HAVE to show all (including UCLA) your transcripts. And yes the 19W's will be detrimental to your admissions consideration unless you have a really good reason. Also, since you have financial aid, all your info (ie transcripts) can be found via your SS number.

Malishka,

The only reason I wrote what I did is that you sounded like you were going to fail all your classes...or withdraw completely so that "nobody would see your UCLA record."

yah thats a possiblity as well. I dont see why thats bad.

Bruinboy............ how are the 19W's detrimental to my admissions consideration when i got into UCLA with the 19w's . It oviously didnt play that much of a role.

Honestly, I don't think Malishka deserves to be a UCLA student. Sorry for being harsh.

Malishka31 may have 19W's or whatever...but she definitely must have many other redeeming qualities for her to be accepted here...so we shouldn't judge her "deservedness" when we don't know her entire backgound...
