What happens if you get a worse grade for a repeated course than the original attempt?

Hello. I understand the general policy of repeated courses for the UC system but what happens if your second attempt with a course ends up you earning a worse grade than the original grade? Do the admissions people just take the best out of the two grades or do they replace the original grade with the second attempt grade even if it is worse? What happens?

They will calculate only the last grade. They don’t combine them.

And that is regardless if it is better or worse?

Yes ^^^^

See link for repeat grades and the quote from the link below:

However, this policy also exists:

[quote]
A student is allowed to repeat each course in which a C-, D+, D, F or NP grade was originally earned, as many times as necessary, until the first time he or she earns a letter grade of C or better.

To make it clear, they will only replace the original grade with the repeated attempt if the original grade was a C- or lower and a repeated attempt will be nullified if the original grade was already a C or greater?

Correct, so did you repeat a course with a grade of C or higher?

Yes, I did but thankfully it was only one course. The other repeated courses I did had either a C- or a D originally.
