What happens if...

What happens if I get a D in the same class twice? I know that I I took the class the second time and let say I got an A I can replace the grade, but it won't count. What happens if I took it the 3rd time? would it replace 2 D's?

anybody willing to help?

If you have a D and then retake it again to get an A, then the A would count more. However, if you retake it for the second time, you should check it with your own school policies.

Most schools do not allow you to repeat a class more than once.

well my friend took chem and got a D, then he took it again this year so he can get an A, and replace the D he got last semester. He did very well till the middle of the semester then complicated issues came up and it droped his grade to a D.

He told me he can take it again the 3rd time, and definitely he can get an A, but if he does what would happen to the 2 D's he got? Would the A replace only one?

It depends on the school's policies on grading. For example, at SUNY Buffalo, you're not allowed to repeat a class more than once. The grade that you receive the second time you take a class, is final. Even if it is lower than the first grade.
However, if your school allows classes to be taken three times, and does not average out grades from each time, then go for it. But if you get an unsatisfactory score again, leave it alone and move on.

well my friend is a bio major, hes a bright kid but misfortunte events happen to him alot. Well he has to pass that class to move up to the next level in chemistry when is General Chemistry. And he dosen't want to make his GPA worst then it is. So hes trying to use every option available to him. I know this "D" would probably drop his GPA alot.
