So, because of my indecisiveness I when I finally transfer in Fall 09 I will have well over 70 semester units. Now I know that you get subject credit for any credits over 70, but what exactly does that mean?

Well, if you're smart you will transfer all your UC transferables and IGETC. Make sure you don't transfer over any of the pre-reqs. Subject credit will mean that they acknowledge that you finished X course, but you just don't receive credits for it. I think it applies for pre-reqs.

Wait changusmc, that doesn't make sense. Why wouldn't you transfer over prereqs? That's what you need for your major! It's understandable that you don't receive the units beyond 70, but they still allow you to take the upper-div classes you need.

You may transfer a maximum of 105.0 quarter units or 70 semester units from a community college. If you complete over this amount, you will receive subject credit for the courses taken and completed but you will not receive any additional unit credit. Students cannot have “too many units” from a community college, nor is there any penalty for completing over 70 semester units. However, no more than 70 semester/105 quarter units of transferable community college course work will be applied to a baccalaureate degree.

i talked to my counselor about this because im about to get over 90 units. he said that you can take as many classes as you want at a CCC but if youve taken some classes at a 4 year institution then you might want to worry but since you havent... he said that 60 units will be counted in and your gpa still stands as it is.
