What happens when u have a high GPA but a pathetic essay?

I m facing a difficult situation. I have a reasonable Gpa(3.9) but i am only a member of a club called international student association(ISA). I have just looked into UC application form, and I dont much too contribute into my essay for cca and empolyment. Is it going to hurt my application badly?

Depends on which UC you want to go to. Cal and UCLA actually look for content in the essays whereas all other UC's use a point system. If you want to get into Cal or UCLA, you need to work on the essay.

Only on CC.com is a 3.9 "reasonable."

You're easily a match/safe match for both, depending on the major.

oh yeah, forgot to mention that i am not in cc but in a four year university

the transfer esssays are critical, particularly if you are coming from another four-year college. Transfer priority is given to jucos first, so you need a great reason to leave your current school -- make them want you!

thank you all for the advise. I am aiming to get into the bizecon for the UC's

its going to hurt you if youre going for berkeley or ucla...but i think that with a 3.9, and a decent (not horrible essay) you should be ablo to get into the lower and the middle range of UCs.
