I will be attending college in the fall, and I’m interested to pursue a biology degree, and was wondering what else can I do with a biology degree?
Physical Therapy/Respiratory Therapy/Physician Assistant/Occupational Therapy/Clinical Laboratory Scientist/Dentist/Pharmacy/Research are some options and some will require classes beyond the basic Biology courses. Graduate school is a must for most of these options.
Most of the occupations mentioned above can be done via an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in the occupation, e.g. an A.S. in Physical Therapy, B.S. in Clinical Lab Technologist. A bachelor’s degree in one of these will entail a lot of biology coursework, yet give you a relative shoe-in for a job.
Correction: One can obtain an Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy and then readily get licensed, but Physical Therapy apparently requires a 3-4 year post-baccalaureate degree in it.
An Occupational Therapist license requires a Master’s degree, I find, so technically I was wrong to say “most.” (There are 2-year Occupational Therapist Assistant and Physical Therapist Assistant programs.)
