What higher ranked schools are you passing on to attend davis?

Everyone in this thread needs to chill out. Like I said, everyone e-hug. UCLAri, you already posted that you prefer UCD over UCI, so why are you still on collegemom? She tries her best to support her opinions, so its done.

collegemom,

Being sarcastic and crass doesn't make one a troll.

Go be sarcastic and crass in your own school's forum.

Have a nice day :)

are you considering on going to ucd in the future UCLAri?

I only found 2 or 3 entries relating to the thread. Everyone else, shut up or make a new thread maybe? Thanks! Oh, and theres a little thing called private messaging in this forum. You would be wise to use it and stop wasting everyone elses time.

I'm probably passing up UCSB and Cal Poly to go to davis
Dont really know about ranking, dont really care, theyre nothing ot be brushed aside by someones grading scale.

i just have one question for UCLAri.. i don't know if this was already addressed since there are too many posts to read through but why is a ucla graduate coming back to a college forum and demanding legitamite reasons for why a specific college is better than another? especially two colleges which you did not even attend? don't you work or something? i know when i graduate from davis in four years i'm not going to come back to the ucla forum and demand reasons for why ucla is better than say... ucsd and then start arguements over it. i mean are you planning on attending graduate school at davis?? cause i don't think this is the place to find out info on ucdavis graduate school. i'm just confused

It's an open forum. Anyone can express what they feel wherever they want, regardless of age, school, IQ, etc etc. If anything you should direct your post to collegemom also. In my opinion.

blinkblink my D is going to college this coming fall, and her younger brother is only 2 years behind. I think I have plenty of good reason to be on here learning whatever I can to assist my children. Have fun at UCI, and congratulations. :)

My point was that you are often posting in different forums, making claims (with valid and fair evidence of course) that UC Davis is more "prestigous" and expressing your love for Davis sometimes so strongly that it instigates a debate. Other people who also have a strong opinion get involved and then an argument erupts. I think some debate is healthy and also informative. (information like which school attracts the most stubborn, prideful, etc) I didn't say that you didn't have good reasons to be on this forum, but I think that anyone can be on this forum if they wanted to. I really do find some information that you post to be helpful, collegemom. But when you say things such as "UCD>>>UCI" and resort to name calling, being a mature mother and all, I would think that you could have handled some of these situations better.

Thank you, I hope I have fun at UCI also. I'm sure your children will have a wonderful college experience at Davis. Congratulations to you also.

blinkblink
I think it is totally unfair of you to assert that I have ever resorted to name calling. I have also never refered to UCD as being more prestigious than any other college. I have said my reasons for liking Davis and disagreed with others who asserted that UCI was better than Davis without facts to back up their arguments. Please refer me to a post where I have done any of these things you say. I apologize if in fact I have. :(

It's just that AHH! You tell everyone to have reasons to support why a certain school is better, provide links etc. etc. but you don't tell fellow UCD fans to do so. I guess that I interpreted it as being nit-picky. I don't have proof of this and I don't feel like going through all your posts, but I wouldn't confront you with this if I didn't get this impression from you. I'm not trying to pick on you or anything, because I have automatic respect for all adults (my Asian parents imposed that on me heavily) and I'm sorry if I sound disrespectful at all.

I made the assumption that you called UCLAri a troll, I'm sorry if that wasn't your intent. I'm also sorry I made you use the sad face. :(

A troll is a matter-of-a-fact name for someone just trying to cause trouble/unnecessarily create hostility on a message board.

.....

Hmm..

Well.....

*blushes

blinkblink
I think if you reviewed my posts you would see how many times I have helped students to find answers to their questions. I have an insatiable desire to learn and I enjoy research. (my profession) I am not an expert in colleges by any means though. I do try to help anyone who asks if I can. I only become upset when I see boosterism that is presented as a FACT, rather than an opinion. I am an ardent UCD booster, and I readily admit it. I have never used the word, "better" to describe any school, though I have been accused of that by both UCLAri and you. :( As for UCLAri, I asked him if anyone had ever, "called him a troll," and pointed out that certain statements could qualify someone as being considered one. Perhaps I implied it, but I never said it. There is a difference. Once again I apologize if that somehow offended you. :(

I turned USC down for UCD as well!! hehe I'm going to UCD to study art and advertisement communications!

The best UC is the UC that you are able to get into, afford to go to (for you out of state folks), and is the best fit for you and what you want to do. I guess you could say that applies to all colleges and universities. Once you make a decision to go somewhere, don't worry about the rankings or what other people say about the rankings of this UC vs. that UC or this college vs. that college. You already made your decision. Go with it and enjoy college. Life is too short to worry about mouse meat issues.

4 years ago when i had to choose which college to go to, i passed on UIUC, UCLA, and UCB to attend UCD because it of the proximity from my hometown, the fact that i didn't really like the UCB campus.

Presently, i'm somewhat happy I chose UCD, but probably would have chosen UCB instead if i had to do this process all over again.

Go Bears! :D

which: the bruin, highlander, or brown bear.
