Yes, we did… enormously. I have many pictures akin to your profile picture to prove it. Funny thing is… we had absolutely beautiful weather the whole time we were there… even warmer than usual temps. I never had to use my raincoat for even a second. Get back to Chicago, and what is it today? 56°, cloudy with rain showers!

Pizza- I love deep dish, prefer bigger veggies than tiny… To each his own.

Navy Pier has a free Stained Glass Museum that is worth going through. A nice place just to enjoy the water as well. Lake boat tours are nice for seeing the skyline. Going to the top of the Hancock building nice- can see Wisconsin on a clear day. Just enjoying the vibrancy of Michigan Ave- plenty of tourists and locals. Seeing what other people buy in the stores. Millenium Park. Seeing the sights along the street- different views of the cityscape. Plenty to do for a first visit. When you live close enough for weekend visits you eventually stay in the suburbs for a restful night and go into the city for the museums.

Hi everyone–thought I would give an update of our plans so far. We are staying at the Palomar. Our first night we will have dinner at the Sable which in connected to the hotel. The second night we landed a 5:30 at Frontera Grill. Otherwise, it was a 9 or 9:30 reservation. 6 weeks ahead!
We are going on the architecture boat tour.
That is it so far.
Thanks for all of your help!

Oregon- stayed at palomar when they opened several years ago ( crazy good rate). How do you like those sliding bathroom doors that don’t quite close ? The nightly happy hour, morning coffee in lounge, and complimentary umbrellas all nice touches,
Love everyone’s suggestions - son lives in Chicago.

I wanted a cool neighborhood to walk around, somewhat residential but with a lot to do (OK, I mean EAT) and walkable to lots of stuff. I chose the Hotel Indigo in Old Town. We walked to downtown, to Lincoln Park, to the water, to Second City and tons of restaurants. I loved the location and the hotel was great. Got a deal at $99/night.
