I wouldn’t suggest that Cornell is a match, Flare12345neo. Cornell is an ivy league school, and it still has some of the lowest acceptance rates in the country. Cornell is, in essence, unpredictable, like the other ivies.

I haven’t chanced someone in a long time, so I thought I wanted to chance someone before I start a late night of college apps! (So you’re lucky!!) I’ve already been chanced by others (50 times) and I have chanced almost 150-200 people by now, so I won’t be asking you to chance me, because I already have a general idea of what I’m going up against.

Anyways, enough about me. Your UW GPA of 91.4 means that you have an A- average, so I’ll assume that you have a mixture of As and Bs. That is pretty good, considering that your courseload is very challenging – certainly above average for some of the top schools you’re applying to. What adds on to this is the fact that you’ve actually taken college level classes (how high? I once knew someone who took a Math 400 class). That either shows intiative to learn or demonstrates that you’re a competitive student – that depends on how your essays and recs go. Obviously, the former is better than the latter.

Your SAT total of 2140 is pretty good. You could retake it, but college admissions aren’t very fond of people retaking the SAT in their senior year. Of course, if you think you can get that 2250, go for it. Your SAT Subjects are good but not great, but your scores do not warrant retaking the tests. On the other hand, your ACT of 34 is superb and puts you in the Top 1% of the US.

Now on to your ECs. Your ECs are good, but I don’t really know how many years you’ve been to a certain club. However, you demonstrate leadership in a few of them and that’s good to have, but keep in mind that you need to show passion for what you do – do you actually enjoy what you do or are you doing it just to put it on your app? That’s something to keep in mind. However, I find it quite impressive that you’ve logged in 500 hours of hospital volunteering – good job! (maybe you can write about this)

Overall, you’re a pretty solid candidate who has obviously worked hard in high school. Keep it up!

Chances:
NYU: Match
Cornell: High match/Slight reach
JHU: Slight reach
Rutgers: Safety
Princeton: Reach
USC: Match
UCLA: Slight reach if OOS, but Safety match if IOS (I will note that last year admissions at UCLA was pretty quirky)

Thanks for the indepth chance! Anyone else? all those clubs were 4 years each (all high school), and the college level classes were accounting (basic and intermediate), and two 200 lvl computer classes. I also took elementary functions at CC, but that was easy…

don’t you need two recommendations from academic teachers for columbia, cornell, and nyu? i think the doctor would count as a supplemental rec. i’m probably wrong, but you should check.
