What I should expect

I had a rough first semester grades wise senior year. I'm an A student who's never gotten lower than a 90 in a class, but this year in AP BC Calc and AP Spanish I've been having a more difficult time. These are what my midyear report grades will look like:
AP Gov-94
AP Lit-96
AP Spanish-89
AP BC Calculus-86
Physics Honors-not sure yet
Human Anatomy-99
Business Law-99
Gym/Wind Ensemble-98

I have strong EC's and decent SAT/ACT scores (2280/33) but after applying to a lot of selective schools in such a competitive applicant pool, how are my chances now with 2 b grades? What should I be expecting come decision time in April? I'm dreading it.

Schools I applied to:
HYP-No shot i know that already :(
Columbia, Duke, Cornell ILR, UChicago (deferred), NYU Stern, UMichigan, CMU, Emory, Vandy, BC, UofRochester, SUNY Geneseo
extra notes
-my intended majors were econ/poli sci
-I'm an asian applicant from NY

bump…

Since you have a good SAT score and you have mentioned that you have strong ECs, in my opinion, you should not be worried! Cheer up!

I understand that half the schools on my list are reaches…but I would be really mad at myself if these B’s are the part of my app that keeps me out of the top schools. How important are senior first term grades?

No, 2 Bs will not keep you out of top schools, just as a 4.0 and 2400 won’t get you in. At this point, it’s about the total package you are presenting.
