I just took the IGCSEs and got 9A*s and 2 As. I did three mother tongue exams - German, English and French. I got As in German and French.
For the IB, so far I’ve picked the following subjects:
High Maths
High Economics
High History
High Biology
Standard German A
Standard English Lit
As you’ve probably noticed, this combination of IB subjects is extremely hard and demanding. Seeing as I’m not planning on pursuing German at university, I thought of perhaps switching Standard German A to High French B. The only problem with this is that throughout middle school and half of high school I’ve taken French mother tongue classes. I’m scared that Yale might not be happy with me deciding to take High French B, even if it would mean that I would be taking 5 Higher Level subjects in the IB. I know that Yale is highly competitive and I really want to have the best chances of getting accepted.
What should I do? Take the bilingual IB with German A? Or take High French B? Any help would be much appreciated!
Pretty sure that Yale won’t care as much about this as they do about your grades in these classes, on the corresponding exams, and your extracurriculars. Just show that you can do well…
Henry, it’s difficult to take you seriously when you’ve posted the same thread on various ivy league forums.
FWIW: I think Yale prefers the same thing that Harvard, Cornell and Columbia do. They want smart students who take the most rigorous curriculum at their school and do well (A’s) in those courses. And they also want to see 4 years of English, 4 years of Math, 3 years of History, 4 years of Laboratory Science, and 4 years of a foreign language. Have you done that? If not, DO IT! Please read over what myself and others have responded to you on your other posts.
