What if a college isn't able to verify an EC one way or the other? (bizarre scenario)

Last year, I served on a national committee for a student organization. I listed this on my brag sheet (though not on my Common App due to lack of space). Until the last two weeks or so, I did not think about the fact that colleges might try to verify my service. During that last two weeks, I've been attempting to contact my old supervisor to make sure she knows that colleges might call, and I have been entirely unsuccessful despite sending several e-mails/voice messages and trying both of the phone numbers listed for her. I also attempted to contact the national office and several of the other organizers; those attempts were also unsuccessful despite multiple tries via e-mail and phone. The desk of the program assistant through whom I did much of my communication last year is now vacated. Despite everything I've tried, I've never been able to get a human being from my organization to pick up the phone - and I used to work for them. I have absolutely no idea what's going on there. So my question is, what if a college tries to verify my service but (like me) can't get any response one way or the other from the organization? I'm terrified that they're going to think I'm lying because this organization (which is an offshoot of a fairly well-known adult organization), for all contact purposes, seems to have been abducted by aliens. Yes, this is a real situation, and I desperately need some advice on what colleges might do or what I should do.

Chances are colleges won't try to contact them, but I'd be sure your GC is aware of the situation. My guess (from what people here have told me) is that they'd call your GC to confirm service first, so you should be safe.

^Thanks for the advice, and I will - but it's an outside-of-school organization.

Even so, from what I've been told they call GCs to confirm most ECs if they have questions (even outside of school ones).

Sounds good to me - thanks. I JUST (as in 30 seconds ago) got an e-mail from the office saying that all of the executive committee (my supervisors) are out of the office until December 1st. Which is really, really irritating (especially since this isn't mentioned on their voice mail), but at least I've got an explanation now. Mods, you can remove this thread if you want.
