What if He Snores?!

I lived in a triple last year and had two snoring roommates. Both of them could fall asleep in a snap and weren't bothered by anything (light, sound, etc). I'm a light sleeper though, so it became very hard for me to sleep. I was really good friends with one of my roommates, so I really didn't want to snoring it ruin our friendship. And as a freshman in college, I wanted to MAKE friends. Poking/slapping/rolling over my snoring roommate didn't seem like a good way to go about doing this (neither did requesting a roommate change). I found that the best way to deal with snoring roommates was to go to bed first. If they were in bed first, sometimes I'd just lay in bed for 2 hours before I finally fell asleep. Headphones didn't work, because even little earbuds hurt my ears when I slept on my side. Also, my roommates were deeply offended when I suggested anything for them to try (like breathe right strips), so be wary of expecting them to change. I usually slept about 6 hours a night and sometimes took naps in the day if I got less. Good luck!

Try noise cancelling headphones, a loud fan, or your ipod.
Also, stay away when they've been drinking - snoring tends to be worse.

If my roommate is a snorer, I'd have to either sleep between classes and wake up all night or tell the RA to change my room!

Get him busted for smoking pot.

try a white noise machine or talk to your roommate about it. buy him nose strips or just push him over on his side when he starts snoring.
