I filed my FAFSA and all the documents on time, but I skipped Fall quarter.
And now I'm returning to school next quarter.
Am I still able to get some grants, not just loans? Or is it too late for it?
I'm going to UC, if that helps.
Also my sibling is going to another UC, and he's receiving $10,000 a year.

You need to contact your college financial aid department and inquire there. Some schools (and states) do not award need based aid for the second semester except for entitlement programs like the Pell grant (if you are eligible for it) and the Stafford loan. Very often, institutional grant money has been allocated for students enrolling in the fall term.

I don’t know a speck about the Cal Grants but someone here might be able to tell you if those can be awarded to students enrolling the second term of the academic year.

Did you receive a financial aid award for the fall and then not enroll? Did you apply for a deferral of your enrollment? Did you discuss your aid with the school when you made a decision not to attend or did you simply “skip” the fall term?

I withdrew from school last year and tried to return this Fall, but the admission counselor did not let me She said I do not qualify under the readmission guidelines, therefore I need to submit a new student application. So I did not receive a financial aid award for the fall.

But then, it turned out there were some misunderstandings with school, and I DO qualify for readmission. So now i’m trying to go back school ASAP, but I’m afraid it’s too late to receive any grant, which will make me withdraw another term. I suppose I need to talk to financial officer of my school about this matter :-P

If you are looking grants, you may get them and you may not. MANY schools do not award need based aid for students in the second term…only the FIRST term.

You need to contact your school. If you submitted your financial aid paperwork on time, you need to ask THEM if you will receive a financial aid award for the upcoming term…and when. They are the only ones who can answer this question…

From other posts, it looks like you are talking about a UC. I do not know the policies for things like the Cal grants…don’t know if those are awarded when a student returns midyear. Call the school…they will be able to tell you.
