What if I am accepted but I'm not 100% sure...

What if I am accepted to FSU, but I am still condsidering other schools? Should I still request a pref. number? Is this binding? Does it require the housing deposit to be paid? How long would I have to decide if I want to go to FSU or not, because I wont find out from my number one until mid January? An answer to any of these questions would be greatly appreciated :)

Part of the housing deposit is refundable. you only have 10 days for them to receive the deposit to reserve your priority number. If you are not sure, wait. Or have your parents review the housing policy and see if they are willing to pay a deposit and get most of it back if you change your mind. See housing.fsu.edu and read up on getting the deposit back.

As soon as you get your acceptance at midnight, send in the housing thing to secure a good priority number. As sunnyflorida said, you have 10 days to send the deposit and secure that number.

Just beware though. After you send your deposit, if you end up not attending FSU, they will give you a partial refund, but I believe you are still out 50 bucks. If you do attend FSU and you send the money, you are legally bound to live in the dorm for a full year.

I’d recommend doing it though. With a high priority number, you ultimately pick which hall you live in. Plus, if you want to live in one of the on campus apartments sophomore year (IE: Ragans/McCollum), your priority number is carried over to the next year.

just to clarify…I can reserve my priority number & I have ten days to decide. After the ten days will I be penalized or will I just lose my priority number?

You will lose your priority number.

Definitely GET the priority number and get the paperwork in within ten days. You have until May to pull out of the agreement and you will lose $50 if you do (that’s what it was last year).

I didn’t even think FSU was going to be an option for my daughter to attend. We hadn’t even visited before applying but fell in love after the visit and kept comparing it with all the other schools she was accepted to. FSU just rose to the top. We didn’t decide until April and FSU beat out all of the other schools.

Always be prepared! We went from a 1% chance of attending :). Might as well get the priority number because you don’t want to look back and regret it when it was really an easy thing to do…

okay thanks for clearing that up! now it just comes down to me getting an acceptance :/

Go check your application fees. If you owe 200 dollars, you are in. If you do not owe 200 dollars, you won’t know for sure until midnight.
