Since my sophomore year, my counselor and I have well...not gotten along to put it gently. I was upset at her because she AVOIDS work (not just my opinion, confirmed by many), and I brought it up to her superiors and nearly got her fired. Unfortunately, she is still at my school, and I would still like to apply to colleges using the common app.

My teacher recommendations, EC's, and everything else should be fine, but if my counselor is to write a recommendation it will surely bar admission into the colleges i wish to attend. Would it be possible to get this recommendation from another type of counselor? Should i request to my school that a different counselor writes it? The problem is if they say no I would be even worse off.

What is your advice?

You could give her 100 bucks and ask her nicely. : D

You are sure that you can’t change counselors for next year?

If she’s really lazy (and you are stuck with her) maybe you can use that to your advantage. Supply her with all of the information that you’d like her to pass on and make her job easy.

Don’t worry! Hopefully she would have enough human decency to not try to sabotage you
But if not, it might not hurt you! If your teacher recommendations are glowing and then your counselor one is like trashing you, then most colleges would definitely investigate. They would most likely then find out about the whole incident and subsequently ignore what the counselor says.

i dont think ill be able to change counselors
But i think i will try and suck up to her as much as i can come fall
