What if I don't have a 1099 for my dad?

I only have my mom’s w2. My dad works on recycling. He doesn’t receive a w2 and when I asked my mom if he had the 1099, she said that my dad doesn’t have. The recycling is kinda like a small business, he works on his own. The 1040 says the amount of both of my parents. My dad’s information, like his exepenses and all are on the 1040. The title of the page says “profit or loss from business” I went to the financial aid at my school and they said that I need to get the 1099. I don’t know what to do.

So it sounds like your dad is sort of self-employed with a little small business.

He wouldn’t have a 1099 issued if he works for himself. Maybe the FA office didn’t understand that your dad doesn’t work for someone.

What does he do with his earnings? Are they cash?

Yea it is all cash. And with all his earning he pays for bills, food, etc.

You say his income and expenses are on the 1040. He should have filed a schedule C which is transferred to the 1040. I’d have to look up the line number. You need the schedule C.
