What if I don't retake a D before applying?

As it stands right now I have a D in a pre-req (Physics II) as a bio major.

I'm in a dilemma. I can repeat it in Spring semester but not only will it not be factored into my GPA for applying for Fall, it's a class that won't even transfer to two of the three schools I'm applying to (it's complicated but basically there are two series of physics at my school, the series i took was the only one available to me at the time so I took it). But my main concern is just replacing that D with an A or a B. I'm pretty sure my GPA will still be decent enough to get me into 2 of those schools (only one of them will accept the physics series though) but how bad will it look if I write on my app that I don't plan to retake it in Spring? I am thinking about just retaking it over at the UC or Cal State instead but will they be put off by the fact that I'm not retaking that class ASAP at my CC? I don't know anymore, it's driving me nuts. Also if I retake it over there will it still replace the D even though technically they aren't the exact same class?

Oh and the schools are Cal Poly Pomona, UCR, and San bernardino (as a backup)

I would only retake if it is that one school that accepts it is your top choice.

Well Cal Poly would be ideal for me bc they accept every class I’ve taken but I have a feeling I won’t get it anyway since my GPA is crap (3.0) and I’m out of district.

So in that case, if I don’t retake it will I still have a shot at the other 2 schools if that D still stands until I retake it over there?
