I got accepted into Rutgers Newark and made my deposit already, but initially I said that I wanted to dorm on campus on my application. I do not want to anymore. I couldn’t find anywhere on my status page or the website to tell them that. Do I have to tell them that I do not want to dorm anymore, or would they send information later on and can I tell them then? Also, would anything in my financial aid package change?
I would call them. If your FA package exceeds tuition, Rutgers might expect that some of that aid go towards room and board on campus. If might not be usable for an off-campus apartment, if it’s a grant as opposed to a federal loan. Also, if you plan to live near campus (as opposed to commuting), check out the cost of off-campus housing and the safety of the surrounding area before you make a decision.
