What if I get better scores?

This question has probably been asked many times, but I'm much too lazy to shovel my way in to CC's list...

I'm going to be submitting my Regular Decision applications due to my high school's deadlines. This means that my self-reported scores will be on my Common App.

I've already taken the ACT once. Those scores are okay, but I'm taking it again next week. If I get better scores, will my colleges disregard my older, worse scores for my better ones? I'm afraid that my colleges will evaluate my application, and use my worse ACT score instead of my better one that will be available around January.

I'm probably confusing myself, but thanks to everyone in advance!

It depends. You need to shovel not here, but on each school’s admissions website.

Wait, I just thought of something.

Since I’m sending an official score report specific to the test I’m taking next week and not the one I took last time, then they wouldn’t even see those scores, right? Besides my self-reported ones (which really have no basis considering hey are unofficial).

So what’s your plan if the new scores are lower?
