I am in scouting and I won't be an eagle scout until after my applications are out but I will get it before I'm 18. So technically I will recieve it but can I put it on my application even though I wont get it until after? I only need one more merit badge so I know I'll get it before 18.

No.

You can add it to your midterm report if you earn it by then.

Just explain it. Say something like: Life Scout (should attain Eagle by [date])

You very clearly cannot state that you have eagle until you have eagle. Even after you finish your last required merit badge and your project and submit your eagle application, you cannot claim eagle. You do not make eagle until after you have passed your board of review. There are scouts that are turned down for eagle at their board of review. Two years ago two young men went for their BOR. The one that BSed everything passed and the other was provisionally declined. He made it 6 months later when he was 18 1/2. You cannot predict the outcome.

I would state “Life Scout completing eagle project with anticipated submission date of xx/xx/xx”. Or something to that effect.

Do keep working towards your goal of eagle. Son is an eagle w/ gold palms. It is still the only this from his high school days that he has been advised to keep on his professional resume. It is always commented on in job interviews. It is a respected accomplishment.

Congrats on Life

You know that without an Eagle Board of Review and the local signatures…you cannot claim Eagle. Keep working–Its the one thing many very successful Execs point to as their most valued achievement.

My son wrote his current rank (Life), but described his project and added a projected date to complete his Eagle requirements. Like you, he only has to finish one required MB…one last campout, which is this weekend! He turns 18 next summer and everything looks good to go.

the day you are officially an Eagle Scout then you send off letters to the schools that you’ve applied to notifying them of the update in your ECs.
