What if My school Doesn't have it!

yeah i understand that you will not be penalized..

BUT

let me ask you this, because i am not sure myself.

i am applying at ucla for communcations and it is highly competitive. If they see that I went out of my way to go to a CC 30 miles away to take 2 classes, will that give me an advantage? even if it's not that much?

I mean, will they see how much I want to go to UCLA providing i have a 3.84 at time of application, and the avg. gpa is 3.89?

TheIcon, I too asked two different UCLA reps about this and both told me a resounding "Won't hold it against you." The UC's are selective in terms of academic achievement, given the opportunities you've had.

Consider that the UC-wide faculty committee Board of Admissions and Relations with Schools has proposed to remove the SAT II and allow students that don't complete the a-g requirements to qualify for admission, since 45 percent of California’s high schools don’t offer enough “a-g” classes for all students to meet the requirement.

They won't know the significance unless you point it out in the personal statement

So many students on these boards have complained or had their admissions denied on the basis that their preqs aren't completed.

True, but I think that's only because those prerequisites were offered at their CCC's and they neglected to take them.
