This is a hypothetical situation, but lets say something went wrong and some supplementary stuff got lost in the mail (teacher recs for example). The official test scores and the application are submitted. Can they review my application and make a decision on what they got? I understand it would probably kill my chances, but will I still get some sort of formal answer (mail and whatnot).

Also, if a school has a deadline and i get the supplementary stuff in a couple weeks late or whatever, can they still look at it (I don't expect them to grade me as fairly, but will they take it and still give me a acccept/reject response?)... Thanks

so if the deadline has passed, is it best that i ask for recs to be sent out again? even tho they will arrive some 3 weeks after the deadline?i honestly dont mind if i get in or not, im just applying for the sake of trying. but i want to get a response from them if i can (accept or reject), not nothing becuz i didnt qualify if you catch my drift.

I think all colleges provide some way for you to verify if all your materials are in. Either by sending a letter or email that your app is complete or by providing you with a password and userid so that you can log into their system to check your app status. At the very least, you should be able to call admissions and verify that everything has been received. Usually your application will not be reviewed until all pieces have been received.
